The O2 Lounge's oxygen therapies will give you a great boost, whether you are tired, jet-lagged, hung-over or suffering from altitude sickness or related symptoms. Our oxygen therapies are particularly good for helping visitors overcome the effects of altitude and aid their acclimatization. They provide oxygen enriched air (90 to 95% oxygen) with complimentary aromatherapy scents to enhance your experience.

For best results visit The O2 Lounge 24 to 48 hours after you arrive in town to help maintain your blood oxygen levels at a higher level and avoid significant effects of the altitude, which may spoil your vacation. You can then return for more Oxygen as you feel necessary during your stay to keep you feeling at your best.

The O2 Lounge's oxygen therapies are suitable for all ages, are great fun and will leave you feeling fantastic.

Oxygen therapies are offered for 15, 30 or 45 minutes, during which time you can relax and enjoy The O
2 Lounge's
facilities.

Our complimentary aromatherapy scents are:

Joy

Lifts your spirits and brings a smile to your face

Relaxation

Promotes relaxation & feelings of peace & calm

Energy

Energises & provides a great boost

Clarity

Clears the mind & brings greater clarity and focus

The cost of our oxygen therapies is:

• $25 plus tax for 45 minutes

As well as helping to overcome the effects of altitude The O2 Lounge's oxygen therapies are fantastic for:

• boosting energy levels before hitting the slopes for the day

• getting you over that hard day on the slopes (oxygen helps flush out lactic acid - the main cause of muscle
soreness) and recharging you for whatever you've got planned next

• reducing the effects of jet lag

• reducing the effects of the hangover that you're bound to have at least once whilst in Breck!

Having an oxygen therapy is fun, leaves you feeling great and The O2 Lounge always has a great vibe, so stop by today for an O2 buzz!

Effects of Altitude

At an altitude of 9,600 feet Breckenridge is classed as a "High Altitude" environment, with the top of the resort at 12,998 feet being classed as "Very High Altitude". Although the amount of oxygen in the air remains essentially the same, our ability to obtain and use that oxygen diminishes exponentially with altitude. This means that almost every visitor to Breckenridge from lower altitudes will feel the "lack of oxygen", with almost half of the town's visitors suffering from some degree of altitude sickness.

Altitude sickness causes a number of symptoms such as:

• Lack of appetite, nausea or vomiting • Fatigue or weakness
• Dizziness or light-headedness • Insomnia or sleep disturbance
• Pins and needles • Shortness of breath with exertion
• Nosebleed • Persistent rapid pulse
• A dry cough

Dehydration due to the higher rate of water vapour lost from the lungs at higher altitudes may contribute to the symptoms of altitude sickness, so its important to drink plenty of water too.

Whilst our bodies are eventually able to compensate for these effects and "acclimatize" to the increased altitude, this process can take many days or even weeks. With most visitors travelling to Breckenridge for relatively short periods, most will not acclimatize during their stay and will continue to feel the effects of the altitude during their stay.
